Our journey towards NET ZERO

At East Riding Sacks we are constantly looking at ways of improving our carbon footprint without reducing the quality or effectiveness of our products. This is our journey towards net zero carbon emissions which will ensure a greener, cleaner future.

Climate change is caused by higher levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere with CO2 being the most dangerous. On our part we can contribute the amount of emissions we are sending out into the atmosphere by reducing these through various means. These include;

·      Waste Paper recycling via our Recovered Paper Division
·      Waste Water Treatment System
·      Electric Vehicle Charge Points
·      Replacement of all lighting with LEDs
·      Solar Panels

What do these areas look like at East Riding Sacks?

The Waste Water Treatment System enables the safe, efficient disposal of glue and ink waste by separating the solids from waste water produced during manufacturing. This allows the waste water to be treated and recycled back into the environment on site. This system, authorised by the Environment Agency, lowers our carbon footprint by reducing the transportation by road of large volumes of waste from our site to off-site waste processing facilities.

Our Recovered Paper Division is where we send all our used, unwanted paper and cardboard. The paper and cardboard is prepared into a format that can then be recycled.

To also aid our mission towards reaching net zero, we are currently in the process of having over 1,300 solar panels fitted. Generating solar energy will substantially reduce greenhouse gas emissions such as CO2 as well as other pollutants.

Lastly, we know that every little helps when reducing our carbon footprint, that why we have installed our first Electric Vehicle charge points for our visitors and colleagues to charge their company vehicles.
